Is there a dress code for the event?
There is no particular dress code.
What parking arrangements are available at the venue?
  • Friday evening at Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA - large surface parking lot at venue.
  • Saturday program at George Washington Masonic Temple - large surface parking lot at venue.  You can also travel by metro and depart at King Street metro station, which is served by the Blue and Yellow lines, and walk to the George Washington Masonic Temple.
  • Saturday reception at Sevareid House - Street parking available and a short walk to Sevareid House. The Sevareid House has a steep driveway so if you have mobility concerns, please let the parking volunteer know, and they will be able to accommodate you. 
I am visiting from out of town. Where can I stay?
Friends of Hollin Hills has room blocks at the following hotels:
  • Hyatt Centric Old Town Alexandria
    • Rate: $249/night plus taxes and fees 
    • Room block rate expires August 23, 2024
    • Walkable to Masonic Temple (0.5 miles)
    • Free valet parking for Goodman Symposium attendees ($40 value)
  • Hotel AKA Alexandria
    • Rate: $275/night plus taxes and fees 
    • Room block rate expires August 12, 2024
    • 20 minutes from Washington, D.C. and a short 10-minute drive from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

What else is there to do in Alexandria?
Alexandria is nationally recognized as one of the best small towns in America. For the visitors bureau, check out Visit Alexandria for information on what to do outside of event hours.

There is a free trolley that runs along King Street from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The stop at the King St – Old Town Metrorail station will be the closest stop to the Masonic Temple.
