Mark McInturff, FAIA founded McInturff Architects in 1986, located in Bethesda, MD, a firm focused on highly crafted modern design. The firm has received more than 400 design awards, including three AIA Institute Honor Awards, a Regional and Urban Design award for the firm’s part in the design of Cady’s Alley in Georgetown, and an Award for Interior Architecture for the Woolly Mammoth Theatre. The firm is the subject of four monographs published by The Images Publishing Group of Australia, including HomeWork (2023). Mark taught at the University of Maryland from 1980 to 2006, and from 1987 has served as an annual visiting critic. As a visiting critic at The Catholic University of America from 1991 to 2016, Mark co-taught an annual studio focused on historic preservation and adaptive reuse. He was elevated to the College of Fellows of the AIA in 2000. Mark and his family were among the original residents of Hammond Wood, a Goodman community in Silver Spring, MD.
