Learn about native plantings through tours of McCalley Native Garden and the Hollin HIlls Entry Garden. Enjoy games, refreshments and crafts for both children AND adults. What is Friends’ overall impact?
- Underwrote development of the McCalley Park native demonstration garden, through a grant to the CAHH Parks Committee
- Installed a bench in Goodman Park through a generous donation from Hollin Hillers Paul Phelps and Susanne Garvey.
- Offered educational panels and presentations on Mid-century modern architecture, landscape design and preservation and historic Hollin Hills
- Underwrote the commission and placement of new park signs
- Refurbished or added facilities, including the Voigt Park playground renovation and a pedestrian bridge to McCalley Park
- Created the Voigt Park Bocce Court along Rippon Road
- Completed pilot program to test erosion mats that have ameliorated flooding in community parklands
- Invested in legal services to maintain integrity of Hollin Hills
