FOHH AWARDS GRANTS FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Friends of Hollin Hills (FOHH) awards grants for community projects on a rolling basis. If you are interested in applying for a grant, please review the criteria below before submitting a grant application.

The board may respond to proposals with additional questions and clarifications. WE RECOMMEND BRINGING ideas to the board before submitting a formal proposal to get an idea of whether you should proceed or not.
Basic criteria for grant awards:
- Proposal meets the criteria described below
- Approval by the FOHH Board
- Pre-Approval by CAHH Board for any activity taking place on CAHH property.
All proposed projects must:
- Must meet Friends of Hollin Hills 501(c)(3) legal requirements (see below)
- Be for public benefit. Any benefit to private interests must be incidental.
- Be free of lobbying or political activities

Hollin Hills residents (including kids), friends and CAHH committees. If the project is park-development related, coordinate with the HH Parks Committee before submission.

How and when do I get the funding?
Once your proposal is accepted, you will work with the FOHH Board and treasurer to decide on the process and timing.
Where does the money come from?
Grants are backed by gifts from donors and sponsors and, as such, dependent upon availability of funds.
Requirements for Funding: Projects must advance one or more of FOHH’s charitable goals:
By accepting funding from FOHH, you agree to collaborate with FOHH on advertising the project and accomplishments on Forum, in the Bulletin, on social media, and on any other outlet that would benefit from learning about the project.
- Materials, including native plants
- Services
- Educational programs – panels, tours, etc.
- Written, visual or audio educational materials and distribution
What do we not fund?
- Individual renovation/preservation projects
- Things normally covered by the Civic Association of Hollin Hills (CAHH) administrative or operational expenses

- Educating the Public about Hollin Hills (including parks) or anything related to mid-century modern, native landscaping, improved awareness, building community, etc.
- Preserving the architecture, natural siting, and/or landscaping of the Hollin Hills Historic District. HH specific architecture-related projects must:
- Preserve key elements of Charles Goodman’s modern architectural designs across the development/neighborhood
- Preserve the development’s novel land planning using natural siting
- Further public’s enjoyment of the Hollin Hills Historic District - Community Building through activities designed to develop community spirit and cooperation.
- Nature Stewardship within the Hollin Hills Historic District. NOTE: Park-related projects must:
- Coordinate with HH Parks Committee to ensure that the project meets all county and state regulations (e.g., VDOT right of way restrictions, watershed restrictions) and do not habitats or modify or threaten native plants or trees.
